The newly appointed Acting Municipal Manager of Musina Municipality, Mr Nathi Tshiwanammbi said the new uniforms that have been distributed to the service workers will energize them and remind them of their responsibility to fast track service delivery. Tshiwanammbi was speaking during his first meeting as an accounting officer with the service staff at the municipal workshop.
Tshiwanammbi said although the municipal administrators were satisfied with the performance of the service workers, it was important for them to put more effort to make sure that community members get the much needed services on time. “We know that the municipality is facing lot of challenges but we must soldier on to fulfil our mandate of delivering efficient services to our people. Council is aware that we have limited resources and shortage of manpower but they are giving us full support for us to be able to execute our duties with ease.”
He told workers that the municipality has been declared a provincial growth point and processes for the implementation of the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) have already started. “We need to be prepared for the massive developments that are coming to our municipality. Those developments need a work force that is dedicated and always ready to face any work related challenges. Judging by your performance, I have no doubt that we will be able to cope with the developments in our doorstep. Situated next to one of the busiest port of entries, we really have to demonstrate that we can be able to attract tourists to visit our country.”
Tshiwanammbi appealed to the workers to handle their work equipment with care. “Although we have not received any reports of people abusing work equipment, we would like to encourage you to continue taking good care of work equipment, including vehicles and machinery. These equipment are the ones that brings food on your table and it is important to take good care of them. I have no doubt that this dedicated team of workers will be able to take our municipality to another level.”
