Well-known Limpopo prolific healthcare practitioner, Dr Azwitamisi Jeffrey Manenzhe encouraged men to live a healthy and positive life by including physical exercise and good nutrition in their daily life schedules. Manenzhe was addressing hundreds of male employees from Musina Municipality during the Men’s Health Awareness Campaign held at Musina showground. Organized by Musina Municipality and Sanlam, the event was aimed at improving men’s productivity at workplace.

Manenzhe said there are many immediate and long term benefits of physical fitness and good health. “It reduces the risk of heart disease, cancer, high blood pressure, diabetes and other diseases. Physical exercise can improve your appearance and delay the aging process. Most importantly, regular activity can improve your quality of life.”

He added: “In fact, exercise is one of the most important parts of keeping your body at a healthy weight. Combined with physical activity, your diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight and reduce the chances of chronic diseases. Exercise is also a key to weight control because it burns calories.”

He said once a person begins to exercise regularly, he or she will discover more reasons why exercise is so important to improving the quality of your life. “Exercise reduces stress, lifts moods, and helps you sleep better. It can keep you looking and feeling younger throughout your entire life.”

The Speaker of Musina Municipality, Cllr Gilbert Netshisaulu thanked the organizers of the Men’s Heath Workshop for coming up with this brilliant idea. “As most men spend the majority of their time in the workplace, it is clear that more awareness of men’s health issues should be raised in the workplace, and that men’s health services should be made more available at work. This makes these workplaces an ideal place to raise awareness of specific men’s health issues, and gives these workplaces a chance to support their employees to improve their health and wellbeing.”
