As part of recognizing women in the field of law enforcement, Operation Basadi took place at a designated checkpoint along the N1 and brought together a strong multi-disciplinary team, including Traffic Officers, South African Police Service (SAPS), Border Management Authority (BMA), South African National Defence Force (SANDF) and Immigration officials.
Operation Basadi highlights the important role of women in law enforcement and reflects government’s commitment to safer roads, crime prevention, and stronger community safety measures across the Vhembe District.
During the operation, law enforcement carried out stop-and-search inspections for compliance with traffic regulations, verification of driver’s licenses and permits and roadworthiness checks to ensure vehicles are safe for public roads.
Musina Local Municipality appreciated the support and collaboration from all participating stakeholders and called on motorists and residents to continue working with law enforcement authorities to uphold safety and compliance in our roads.
