The Musina Local Municipality wishes to urgently warn members of the public, job seekers, and service providers about a fraudulent scheme currently operating.
Following the recent advertisement of vacant municipal vacancies and tenders, scammers have been actively contacting unsuspecting victims. These criminals are impersonating senior municipal officials, including the Acting Municipal Manager, Mr. Midas Mudau, and are soliciting money, bribes, or upfront fees to guarantee job placement or tender awards.
Please note the following critical information to protect yourself:
- The municipality operates under strict ethical recruitment and anti-corruption policies.
- At no stage will the municipality ever require an applicant or bidder to pay cash, processing fees, or bribes to secure a position or contract.
- No legitimate municipal official will ever request funds to be deposited into a private bank account, mobile wallet, or handed over in cash.
The municipality is taking these fraudulent activities very seriously and is working closely with law enforcement.
If you have been approached by anyone demanding money in exchange for a municipal job or tender, or if you have already fallen victim to this scam, do not stay silent. Please gather any available evidence (such as cell phone numbers, bank details, or text messages) and report it immediately to your nearest police station.
Verify all current, legitimate opportunities directly via the official Musina Local Municipality Website.
