Musina Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr Nkhanedzeni Godfrey Mawela has urged residents to pay for municipal services. Speaking on Musina FM, Mayor Mawela said paying for services is important to ensure the municipality continues to deliver quality services to the community.
He said the municipality cannot function properly if residents do not pay for water, electricity, refuse removal and other services. The mayor also raised concern about illegal electricity connections, saying they are a major challenge for the municipality. He said illegal connections damage municipal infrastructure and affect service delivery to paying residents.
However, Mayor Mawela said the municipality has made progress, after collecting 1.6 million rand from residents who were found to have connected electricity illegally.
